Right. Which pisses me off as well, as really, what's the point of all this? To make House even more dark? Couldn't they have thought of a more medically sound way to do that?

Well, I figure either

1) He'll be fine but then something different bad will happen and he will be miserable again.

2) The treatment won't stick and he'll relapse, and be miserable again.

3) It's a horrible, cruel, cruelly horrible dream sequence (didn't we get enough of that with the finale?) and he'll wake up to find out that it wasn't real and...be miserable again.

No matter what...I think we know the inevitable outcome.

Yep. It's like the whole Stacy-thing for me: we know it's not going to work and will actually lead to more pain -- thus, the entire process is tainted.

That was. That. That was.

That was weird.

I'll buy walking and maybe even running, sure, but that? Abuh whut.

House: Because of the extent of the muscle removed, utility of the patient's leg was severely compromised. Because of the time delay in making the diagnosis, patient continues to experience chronic pain. {Three Stories}

So, canonically? These things are not the same. I'm relatively fine with him being (temporarily) pain-free. But that no pain = House can run, skateboard, do a little jig if he so chooses completely downplays the severity of losing a large portion of muscle. And you know what? It also gives him no right to be angry at Stacy for her decision.

Sigh. What's done is done, I guess, but I still want to see at least some attempt from the writers to explain all that. I mean, it's not that any explanation can suffice, but it'd be nice.
