Despite my prior exhaustion, I stayed up until 6am this morning. Why? Well, because I started watching Bad Education at 2-something and then there were the short featurettes and Almodóvar's commentary, and before I knew it, the birds were chirping and the sun was rising.

Bad Education was absolutely fantastic, though, and probably one of the best ( Read more... )

why were you told you shouldn't watch Y Tu mama? It's one of my favorite films, I have yet to see bad education...or the motorcycle diaries, but I'm about a year behind in films. However, I have just found where I can get the dvd version of delicatessen, so all is well.

Mostly that it just wasn't good and that the characters were so unlikable that it was near impossible to watch. I always knew that I would eventually see it and make up my own mind, of course. The influx of Gael-lust just sped things up a bit.

As I've never heard of Delicatessen before, I looked it up at IMDB, and it sounds marvelously twisted.

really? definitely see it and make your own opinion - but I loved it to bits, the atmosphere, the music, the seemingly simplicity of the story...and the beginning of my embarrassing fixation on diego luna. Hee. Delicatessen is like Amelie's mysterious elder sister who lives in the attic and is never seen in the daytime.

They were selling it for seven pounds at HMV while I was in England...I should have bought it then, but then I foolishly thought it would be on DVD in the states.

Yeah, I have no idea why Bad Education was NC-17. I felt sort of disappointed walking out of the theater -- where was the nudity? Doesn't there have to be nudity for NC-17? I thought it was really spiffy and film-noir-y and cool; I liked it a lot.

I really hated Y Tu Mama, but I support your right to see it for yourself. More people seem to like it than hate it, judging by my friends list.

And you should definitely see Delicatessen, because it is cool and creepy. I watched it for French class once.

If you liked Bad Education the YTMT won't disappoint. Although I think he's probably more gorgeous in BE.

Mmm, Gael García Bernal. You know, he has a small role in that I'm with Lucy flick we almost rented that time I was out there -- when we ended up getting Sorority Boys. *g* I'm looking forward to seeing Bad Education, but I'm more intent on seeing The Motorcycle Diaries. (I probably mentioned before that I disliked Amores Perros. Also, the less said about El Crimen del Padre Amaro, the better.)
