This recent law and its policies are really sad. As a "border region" this area has a reputation for being comparatively right-wing when compared to the rest of northern Virginia, so it really came as no surprise.

The interesting thing about the situation is that these laws have brought a lot of repressed feelings to the surface, so there is an opportunity here for dialogue.
