Poor Riley is practically mute, but Grumpy Viszla really did have different barks, and I could tell if something was really wrong.

This is purely anecdotal (obviously), but my last cat ended her days totally mimicking certain idiosyncracies of my speech patterns - people found it hilarious.

Example: When she was pissed off, she'd actually mutter, "Hmmph!"
