ALW is a detestable little runt at the best of times. Years ago Phil auditioned for Phantom, when ALW started throwing his weight around and being sarcastic, he told him where he could stuff it and walked out.

Ooh, good for him!

I think I'll just tape it, and stick it on the "rainy day" pile...

The film version is dreadful. Splash out on tickets to see the real thing instead.

And yes, ALW is evil. He owns far too many of my favourite paintings to ever be a tolerable human being.

I've heard and read bad things about it.

However, gears are moving, wheels are revolving, and the analogue signal is magnetising particles on recording tape as I type.

Fear for my soul...

Plus points for the film include the opening sequence, and all the shiny things. There are a few rooms that I would steal if I could...

But I'm definitely a second vote for the stage version.
It may not be Leroux, but at least the Phantom is old and ugly in it, just as it should be. *nods*

Mmm. See above. If it's on tape, there's a slightly better chance of me getting to see the furnishings and whatnot eventually, I suppose. (Although I've had Moulin Rouge - the Nicole Kidman-starring version - in the same state for years, and never quite managed it.)

Old and ugly is very good indeed!
