If that word is actually a corruption of 'surmount,' this usage might be correct - however accidentally.

There is some interesting material yet to be properly explored surrounding the fact that some identities are celebrated (e.g. nationhood, age, gender) while some are not (first gay summiter? first Roman Catholic without oxygen?).
I haven't made up my mind whether to use summit, summiter and summited; I suspect not although they are really common in the climbing community.
