They are currently facing some additional headwinds here in Germany. Two ministers have voiced concern regarding the start of Google Street View in Germany. Someone even proposed making displaying houses opt-in instead of having to opt-out. But right know I would only expect some cosmetic changes. But it's nice to see that at least some people have realised what power Google is accumulating.
What I find worth noting, on a German website that does a good job compiling all kinds of news about things like that, the comment section, which usually is very vocal about all these things, is in general predominantly pro-Google. It's a bit strange.

*Nods.* We had some rumblings about Street View here, but the Information Commissioner seemed Hellbent on caving in, and his decision was very much in keeping with the present government's wholly uncritical take on the Big G.

Being me, I rather liked this Norwegian response:

That Anti-Gravitas Application Questionnaire in full. sensaes February 24 2010, 21:51:01 UTC
It's been doing the Inbox shuffle rounds all week, even (allegedly) turning up in a non-Tyger Posterous post before some nitwit linked to it on LJ, and set off a...weird chain reaction. Or something. I don't know. It's hard to keep up. The biggest grumble - apart from the Google-bashing - seemed to be about how entries here are never locked, but that's hardly news, and A-G barely functions as a "community" in the traditional LiveJournal sense anyway, so it's a bit of a misfire. Still funny, though, and I appreciated the nod to my grumpy t*n c*t pseudo e-mail account in the intro (excised here):

Application Questionnaire

1. What is your LJ username? Is it stupid, or stolen from someone dead like bing_crosby2. What first drew you to this community? Was it the very special lack of padlocks ( ... )
