Thanks for the link, very interesting. I certainly can confirm Obama's failure to rein in the financial sector. It's all terribly vexing.

Just in case it hasn't already reached you, when reading the article I saw on the "most read" list something that lead to a very amusing article about Werner Herzog.

Indeed! (And I got terribly nostalgic, because "It's Only A Movie" used to be the title of the late - and very witty - John Brosnan column in Starburst magazine. Not only was he a joy to read back in the day, but he also penned one of the first "serious" books about the 007 films - James Bond in the Cinema. Sorry, bit of a diversion there.)

Kermode, as far as I understand, will be taking over Jonathan Ross's slot on BBC1's Film 20XX when the latter presenter's contract is up. He's very sharp, knows his stuff, and - as you'll have gathered from his Guardian piece there - not afraid to crack a gag or expose some of the absurdities (and "characters") of the biz.

He also owes me a pint, and is spot on about Jesse Birdsall - the resemblance is uncanny, and teasing him about a revival of the series BUGS* must happen on a fairly regular basis. ;o)

I found the article very entertaining. It made me look up the book which will come out in February.

We don't have a single, nationwide movie show in Germany that covers things like weekly releases. Considering that we have a similar TV system than the BBC that's very embarrassing.
