The perils of delegation...

For anyone mildly curious as to the whereabouts of that oft-promised "books" post here, I'm afraid that Hugo (our intrepid guest reviewer) has found himself hopelessly sidetracked in the Castle library:

Eeeenteresting books. I liked Voltaire's 'What Is Goth?'. It's good to have someone as smart and witty as him for newsreaders to interview whenever some kid in a trenchcoat goes and bombs a school.

Gavin Baddeley isn't any relation to Jake Baddeley, the symbolist artist, is he? Just wondering.

Oddly enough, he's written a book specifically about the Marilyn Manson "phenomenon", too. (Oh dear - it never pays to make connections like that. Best left to the scumbag meedja...)

I'm not sure if they're related, actually, but I wouldn't be too surprised! (Gavin's been a fairly regular attendee at the Whitby "Weekenders" over the years, though. Some nice pics here: http://www.pbase.com/clements/whitbygothic)

Oh dearie me. Well, as long as he's making a significant distinction between the two subjects, I'll let him off. ;-)

One day, I will don Asphyxia (that's my corset) and go to a WGW. Lovely photos - worth going just to stare at all the pretty people.

(On a tangent, I love Film Four: "Now, with strong language and scenes of judicial execution, The Green Mile..." Because the non-judicial variety is suitable for all audiences.)

I wonder how many people have changed channels as a direct result of those namby-pamby warnings?

I always imagine some lovely old couple in their armchairs, steaming teapot on a little table between them, waiting to watch a film on telly one night, and the continuity announcer says...absolutely nothing.

"Well, this is no fucking good, Ethel. Shall we watch Men and Motors instead?"
