Blofeld's kittens to be extra-fluffy and adorable?

Peter Morgan (screenwriter for The Queen, Frost/Nixon, TV's The Deal, and others) is aboard for the next Bond movie. He's a good writer, but Colin Boyd's spin on the story may give you pause:

Having Morgan as a screenwriter is certainly nice, though I wonder how much of a difference he'll be able to make in the tightly defined Bond machinery. I think I would've preferred it if he had used his time and energy to write something original.

*Nods.* Remember the hoo-hah when Marc Forster was announced as the director of Quantum of Solace, and how it represented a radical departure for the series? Well, apart from a few stylistic touches* (which one could hardly identify as "Forsteresque", or whatever) the only noticeable difference from its immediate predecessor was slightly "lumpier" pacing. Ultimately, and beyond the standard Fleming/Glidrose Productions 007 writing formula (which even Umberto Eco has identified and written about!), these films are "assembled" like machines by the ruling team behind them, with Wilson and Broccoli keeping very firm hands on the tiller. No disrespect to Purvis and Wade or Morgan, but it's a committee job at best. I'm most reminded in this case of when George MacDonald Fraser - creator of Flashman - came onboard for Octopussy, although I doubt that even Morgan will get away with putting Craig in a clown suit... ;o)

*The onscreen "location" titles, appearing in different fonts, and in different ways, was a nice touch in QoS, I ( ... )
