That poem gives an interesting perspective on the things we carry. I prefer to take very little with me, and I remember when I was younger only carrying a little bit of change in my pocket whenever I went somewhere.
But now I carry keys because otherwise I wouldn't be able to enter my vehicle or home. I carry a wallet because I have too many plastic cards not to. I have my phone with me at all times solely because I consider it bad form to not respond to a text asap (and it's like a mini laptop).

It's funny how the 'meaningless' thing in your blog is actually the only thing that still has a practical use. But I guess props are important for storytelling, and storytelling is important for identity.
