Kinship: Biological or Social?

Hi, all

I'm looking for any information/books/articles etc about kinship, and whether feelings of kinship are biologically innate, or whether they are mostly socially constructed. I'm particularly interested in adoption of children, and whether kinship feelings can be the same between an adopted child and their adopted family or not, and also in how ( Read more... )

I don't have any sources, but I can almost guarantee you that it's some combination of the two, as with most questions like this.

as im sure ive mentioned on here (LOADS :D lol) I did an anthropology of bio science module at uni a while ago. I dont have the reading list to hand but i can recomend:

"reproducing Jews" - an ethnography about gamite donation in isrel - very interesting

and

"relative values-reconfiguring kinship studies" franklin and mckinnon eds. a massive book that i think is probably what youre looking for.
