I had a sausage sandwich for breakfast this morning.

You do not know how happy this made me.

Sausage sandwiches are one of the pinnacles of modern culinary life. As we as a family not only rarely have sausages but also rarely have cooked breakfasts (unless my sister is being awesome) and I as an individual rarely have breakfast full stop, me ( Read more... )

I love Bloc Party's Blue Light.
I also love the sound of Wooden Casino - the way they mix light electronics with heavy guitars - and any band that freestyles Bach's Tocatta & Fugue in D Minor deserves my love, but the singer's voice kind of annoys me.

My take on the grammar issue:
If you insert the parenthesed part in the sentence (like this) a comma is inappropriate. (If you, however, decide to parenthese a full sentence, take care to add it outside of other sentences.) Because, well (Well is such an awesome word, don't you think?), if you don't, it just looks silly.

Blue Party, I have to admitt, does nothing particularly special for me -- I like it, but I prefer She's Hearing Voices and Luno off Silent Alarm. You are, however, my new hero for knowing the name of the piece of music that that came from, because it's been bugging me for ages, and as much as it sounded like Muse's Plug in Baby I had a feeling that it wa a little more famous than that.

*is an uncultured cretin, mostly*

On the grammar -- what happens when the paranthetical remark is the last part of an item within a list?

As a seperate sentence, it stands alone. As a closing remark (or within a sentence), it still goes within the punctuation (otherwise you're not associating the material within the parenthesis with the immediately preceeding stuff). But if you're listing things in a linear way as opposed to a prosaic way, I have no idea and would have to dig out my CMS for reference.

...also, I think I need a photo of me weilding the Barbecue Implements of Doom, Spikiness, Torture and Pepper-rescuing, so that I can iconise it. :P:P:P

Would you like to explain this locked-out-on-roof thing? Personally, I'm quite fond of sitting on roofs; we did a lot of that one summer at my cousins' house. Unfortunately my roof isn't quite flat enough to do a lot of sitting without being at risk of death.

Re. the parentheses + punctuation: I honestly have no idea. You should ask ressie_noldo, though; she's our resident parentheses-abuser (once I saw her use this: ".).).", no joke!) and she swears that everything she does is technically correct. xD ( ... )

I was hoping somebody would ask me that...

I am also rather fond of sitting on roofs; that is what got me into the situation in the first place. I have mentioned the story related here to various people, and it was vaguely mentioned at the barbeque. Helen became curious, and wanted to see how it was possible to get out onto the roof, so I demonstrated.

She looked at the window through which I had swung myself somewhat awkwardly.

"I couldn't do that," she said, and grinning evilly, shut the window behind me.

Not only was I shut out of my own bedroom on the roof by my own girlfriend at my own barbecue, and not only did Lucia come up and laughed at me rather than let me in and then went away again, but one of my friends filmed it on his phone.

You can't make this stuff up, folks... :D

ressie_noldo scares me, in that case. Parenthetical parentheses are allowed in maths, and nowhere else, surely? *wibble*

Your foisting seems to have worked rather well thus far - Jump, Little Children and Bloc Party so far, and probably counting... :P ( ... )

... Basically, you are Awesome and I am saving this comment to my LJ memories. :DDDDD

(Don't talk to me about parenthetical parentheses -- I remember way back when, we were learning the order of operations and we had things that looked like ([{(([ and I was traumatised forever...)

Well, you know where my albums post is, and you know I'm always willing to upload more. Lots more. :DD

Eeee. :D You say that too much. :D It makes me feel very happy. :D

(And I feel that I don't say that you are awesome as often as I should do, which is bad, because you are Very.)

(Ugh. Usually I tend to have no more that two sets of bracket inside each value on paper, but when I'm working things out on my calculator things do sometimes get horribly messy. )

:D I think I'll probably download something tomorrow to have something new and wonderful to listen to whilst working. :D I may become hooked on something different... :P
