Inside it was a copy of Un Lun Dun by China Miéville, inside of which was a little compliments slip saying 'Here's a souvenir', and also a little note in purple ink from China Miévilleon the title page that said 'To Anthony, With huge thanks for your help! All my best, China Meíville'.
Eeee, how splendid! Especially in purple ink. Purple ink is very nice.
Family is odd. On the one hand, your family are those irritating members of the public that you just can't seem to get away from; you cannot choose them and you are stuck with them, like as not. But then again, there is an instant connection that you can draw on to make stronger ones if they are there; you know these people somehow. My relatives are comfortable; we live in completely different worlds, and yet can slot into one anothers' lives without much fuss and without much inconveniece. Blood isn't thicker than water necessarily, but it acts like oil: the machinery of communication doesn't quite clog up with infrequent use in the same way that it can do in friendship.YES AND

You are just trying to make us die of jealousy, aren't you. AREN'T YOU. (I do love receiving things in the post, though; I had my first piece of mail that wasn't a "friendly appointment reminder" from my dentist in months, the other day, and positively squeed.

That statement is ♥, and I hope you don't mind if I record it in my paper journal for posterity. You will be duly noted & quoted, of course.

I don't know, I have this odd tendency to read your entries lately and think, "yes, perfect, he said it in I way I could never manage", and just save them in memories or something rather than risking detracting from the post with a comment, and that is that, really.
'Lost Prophets'? 'Lost Prophets'?????? it's Lostprophets, you fool! that lack of spacing and correct capitalisation is very important to them. they choose to rebel by using bad grammar. ugh, you're lucky your family are so cool. my family are just huge and start fights with people. it's the Scouse way! also I hear I have a gift incoming from you... xxxxx
Their deliberate use of bad grammar to rebel is not cool. It would only be cool if there was irony, for irony is king.
My family is kind of insane. I love them lots, but they are really, really, really nutso sometimes. In an 'aarrg' way, rather than a 'dude that's cool' way...

I'm going to attack Perdido Street Station again this year. I liked it, but couldn't devote enough time to finish it last time I tried.
