just replying to your comment you left toward me in graphicdesign (i am late replying; didn't realize the ad of the young girl gymnasts for breyers got deleted) where you said "Mapplethorpe only fucked with those who were over the age of consent."
i wasn't referring to the fist fucking or homoerotic photos as i was referring to the "children in erotic poses." some find those photographs bordering toward pornography and rather inappropriate, much like the indecent/awkward poses of the young gymnasts in the ad spoof.
i wouldn't exactly call a child consenting, but i do know what you were referring to.
I wasn't referring to the hard-core pics either. I know he did a few pics of kids, but they were a "relative of a friend who asked" type of thing and to my knowledge, never published. I could be wrong, though. I've personally never seen them but I've read the descriptions of some of them.
I know that he was a fantastically talented man who printed his demons and made the ugliest scene a thing of beauty. And the few "mainstream" ads that he created all contained adults.
Also, I was not referring to children when I mentioned the age of consent. In NY the age of consent is 17 or 18. All of the men that Mapplethorpe was linked to were adults, and most of them were his models.
i'd recommend researching mapplethorpe's cleveland gallery opening where the pictures of the children had first been exhibited.. i know there's not much on the web, but needless to say, the gallery was closed because of them. they were displayed among the photos of flowers, nude men, and others.
the pictures are really quite disturbing, regardless who's child it is.

I need to make material about it and I need some comments, could you please in brief describe for me your opinion about this magazine, about its importance for designers. And If it is possible, tell me please your name or at least your position (i cannot use anonymous comments!). Thak you in advance. You can do it either here, or via e-mail -daria.taradai(-)gmail.com

It'd be nice to have another local designer to chat with. Friend me back?
