awww, I love the image of a somewhat bemused Horatio trying to get coal from somewhere. It did cross my mind over the past couple of days, "I bet if Horatio was with the Kennedys for the New Year they'd be pushing him out the door at 11.55 and he'd have no idea what was going on."

I love Bush's ritual too, that he still does it.

Ha ha ha :) There's a crackfic in this too I think. I have to confess to having done this myself on occasion, when the best available tall dark bloke is inside rather than outside ;)

We still do it too, although sadly we didn't hear any boats this year.

Really quite sweet character insights given how this tale ends. I have to say the Bush one made me smile. I'm also pretty sure that Horatio got the coal :P
