Title: The Boat Author: Anteros Characters: Archie Kennedy, Horatio Hornblower Rating: G Notes An imaginatively titled piece for the following_SeaBoats Challenge, inspired by this image.
Oh. Oh! I think this is one of your best. The slow revelation of where they are, and what it means. Archie's averted face, his tight mouth and his light words, contrasted with Horatio's innocent serious sweetness.
Thank you :) As soon as I screen capped that image I could just imagine Horatio staring down at the boat, powerless to stop Archie from drifting away. I didn't really know where this was going to go until I started writing it though.
I want to hear about the penance... Ha! I thought you might say that. Well, we'll have to see .... :}
Oh, the guilt, the guilt! Poor Horatio, he must have been haunted by guilt all this time. This is such a lovely piece about loss and guilt and redemption. Thank god Archie is in a forgiving mood.
Horatio must have felt so guilty, and Archie, I can't imagine how he must have felt returning to the prison after being free for so short a time. Yes, it's part of the canon that I'm fascinated by and keep coming back to. I've written a couple more pieces about this, Paid In Full is written from Horatio's POV and There Had Been A Sailor from Archie's.

Amen to that. Archie's suffered enough misery to put up with any more from Horatio!
