That's the light of the West Coast. It's particularly noticeable the further north you go.

Oh yes, I'm sure all these things would be instantly familiar. I walked right out to the end of the harbour breakwater and looked out to sea, wondering if he'd stood there himself.

Definitely. These are men who knew their trade. And I'm sure they also knew the best places to fish and when the weather was going to change.

I love the various styles of houses in the Crescent.
Although the town was planned and the plots sold in the 1790s, many of them weren't built on until some time later, hence the mishmash of architectural styles.
