Sir Sidney Smith Imprisoned in the Temple

Shamelessly pinched from the NMM today...217 years ago today Sir Sidney Smith was imprisoned in the Temple prison in Paris after being transferred from Abbaye where he had been held since being captured during a cutting out expedition at Le Havre in April 1796. Mr Smith certainly appears poised there. I would not wish prison on any one-- but he seems to be making the best of it ( ... )
