Porn for women

Mar 17, 2010 13:03

xkcd.com is pretty much required reading in my RL line of work but I thought this was worth sharing here. So very true. Particularly if you delete "people" and insert "cute naval officers" ;)

"In my porn, cute naval officers fuck."

Hear! Hear! I'm so sick of people telling me that women don't want/like porn.

Well I'm glad we agree about that then! :D

I guess it's part and parcel of the whole patriarchal view that women aren't entitled to their own sexuality (as in, separate from that of men).

Indeed. And if women are to have their own sexuality then it somehow has to replicate general norms of male sexuality.

I've been getting script errors back from LJ since last night. But I haven't had too much trouble posting.

I know it is. I've read it and it's gorgeous :)

So true!

And even if we left feminist issues aside, and even if it didn’t say "porn" on the cover, this book would still be ridiculous. I find about 98,99% of all male models I see on magazine covers and in advertisements uninteresting bordering on repulsive, and the book shows guys of exactly that type - I saw the preview on amazon. Now, I see billions of boring guys reading newspapers and drinking coffee and doing work each day and all day long, so tell me one good reason why I should spend money on that book! :p

Hahaha! You know I never actually looked at the book! You're right though most porn marketed at straight women is just dire. Queer porn definitely has a lot more life to it but lets face it, nothing beats naval porn ;)

Restrospectively caught up with this thread- and concur that the book is terrible, having just looked at the Amazon preview also.

Nothing beats naval porn - though, in temporary defence of ironing
( though I never do any)at least it did produce us one of those carefully studied,"unguarded" moments.

It may be worrying that Horatio reserves this level of showing pleasure for a flatiron- but don't think Archie- or we -are complaining...

Though I need to think more about how and why Bracey is such a source of domsetic wellbeing...

You know I _still_ haven't actually looked at this book! Things like this turn up every few years purporting to be "pornography" for women. There's invariably a small media flurry and then everyone looses interest. This one sounds worthy of forgetting.

Nothing beats naval porn
Agreed.

...though, in temporary defence of ironing...
Hahaha! Very good, I'd forgotten about the flat iron incident! :)
