seriously, i am grinning a big ass grin right now and I've had it on since about halfway through chapter two (since chapter one was intense anticipation I think i had a bit of a concentrating frown on). Loved this. And seriously, although I can understand going back and rereading your work and not liking it, lady, this really was marvelous. You didn't lose the tension for a minute.

I think these lines struck me as so absolutely true that I sucked my breath in a bit: That Giles would come out to him in a burst of mutual shareage? That wasn’t who Giles was.And dear gods woman, you have totally tapped in to the sexy Giles!!!! Ok, I don't really believe this, but sometimes I love that idea that we all share a collective unconscious where the ultimate versions of characters are, and when we write we try to paint a portrait of that person that comes close to that ultimate figure that lives in our minds and ... it that place does exist, you just painted a picture that was so good it looks like a snapshot -- you got him dead to rights,

Woo! Though seriously, I get my readers to do most of the work for me. The secret is to give you just enough to get going, then let your imaginations carry it along. I am so happy that you were suckered into it enjoyed the story!

I will admit to having a very very specific mental image of that photograph of Giles, shirtless, however. Guh.

Have been looking forward to this since last night when you mentioned it was done, and it did not disappoint. Lovely, lovely characterizations and, like other people have mentioned, details. I really love Giles/Xander when it's done right and this struck a very nice chord with me. Mmm.

I enjoyed that very much. :) Favorite bits include Xander using sensitive buzzwords in his breakup with Larry, Buffy making Xander over, and the Xanderiffic extended fruit metaphor.

I love the stories Xander makes up for Giles' keys. It's very cool - I'm gonna play that game some time.

Xander hadn’t thought about that before, what Giles had been doing before he came here to Watch Buffy, and what he’d had to walk away from.

Yes! That's something I've been fixated on recently. Working it into a story I'm working on. There's almost a sense that nothing happened to him in between Eyghon and Sunnydale, and never any impression that he had any sort of life to be interrupted when he became Buffy's Watcher.

I really like the way Xander's disappointed that Giles doesn't come out in return, but he understands who Giles is and he's only a little disappointed. Nice characterisation for both of them.

And I like the shower-wank scene, and how realising Giles is a guy, who wanks, knocks Xander for a loop.

Sweet mother of God, Giles was a pear.
