RCCNZ continues to monitor the situation, weather and ability of nearby vessels to assist. Contact with FV SPARTA continues to be through the agent via satellite telephone and through FV SELJEVAER via VHF. Future actions will depend on the success of the repairs.
Currently the FV SELJAVAER is standing by in a small area of open water as ice conditions are too dangerous for it to continue trying to make way to the FV SPARTA.
RCCNZ is looking into the possibility of another aircraft mission to drop further equipment to the FV SPARTA to assist in stabilising the situation.

The Korean Polar Research vessel ARAON has departed Lyttelton, NZ to render assistance. ETA 7+ days
The SPARTA has requested additional water pumps, and materials/equipment to keep up with water entering the vessel and affect some temporary repairs. RCCNZ is looking into the possibility of another aircraft mission to drop further equipment to the vessel to assist in stabilising the situation.
