The bright colors of the koi are a greater loss, gold and black and white reduced to rippled wetness in a pond.

i like your imagery.

this is a short story, but the sensitivity and depth of their relationship comes across clearly. very nice.

Tightly written, very poignant. I love how Hikaru is simultaneously very, very insensitive and yet also caring. Quite true to character.
