This was hilarious and adorable! It felt like a scene straight out of canon. I love the teasing dialogue.

Well, now!! You managed to sneak in quite a bit of punch into a fic about three sweaty guys being lazy! I've never seen nor has it really occurred to me to think about Shindou and Isumi talking about the pro exam, particularly with an outsider... I think they have a sort of understanding between them about what happened, but this line...

"It's nothing." Isumi's voice was eerily calm. He'd gone into that zen mode he'd learned in China. "I just accidentally moved a stone I had already placed. I cheated, so I lost."

I can so see it and hear it. Plus, Waya becoming suspicious when Hikaru stumbles into talking about NetGo...!

And, yes, Isumi is so getting bullied into paying for their sushi eating contest!

Really glad you liked it! I think Shindou and Isumi would probably not go out of their way to talk about the pro exam or what happened after - too much strong feeling there. But if it's Waya asking, they'll at least answer.

I wish I had an Isumi to pay for all my sushi. :D

I'll admit, I disagree with how you have Waya react to the explanation of Shindou and Isumi's game during the pro exam - no matter how long ago it was, I think it would have had a greater impact on Waya.

That aside, I thought this fic was adorable and I love the ending.

I personally think that in the middle of a casual conversation Waya wouldn't let it affect him too much, but later on he might react more to it. Considering how quickly Waya and Shindou talk about Isumi right after the pro exam (it's at a NcDonalds, I think), it seems like they aren't the sort to dwell on things in front of others. But maybe you are right that Waya should be feeling a little more internally.
