I want to know how I feel about this piece, but I think I'm just having an emotional disconnect between how I like to idealize Isumi, and how you portray him which I can see as a perfectly valid option. The writing is nice, there are some great bits of description in it, and it nice nice sometimes to read some het in a sometimes too-slashy fandom. Thanks!

Please don't read this as ganging up! I just had to agree with Patra here. Definitely a fan of the het, though, and it's nice to see this isn't Isumi/Waya (for once)!

Actually, I think exactly the opposite. In a fandom that all too often idolizes Isumi, it's nice to see a fic where he is so real. This meshes well with the way the series portrays Isumi in that he did always seem a little distant, and all too often a little uncertain. Beautifully done.

I was trying to extrapolate from canon!Isumi into facets of his life we haven't really seen much of outside of Go, so I'm really thrilled to hear you think it meshes well with what canon gave us. I suspected it could be disconcerting from typical fandom portrayas, but I am sadly not as familiar with fandom as I'd like to be, so that may have helped a bit. Thank you so much!

Isumi should hook up with Nase and they can do non-Go related side stories together flonnebonne September 21 2011, 21:03:41 UTC
Your prose is lovely, and all the visceral details really work. And the bridge metaphors work really well. I'll admit that I had a hard time picturing Isumi sleeping around, but after thinking about it some more it didn't seem so odd. It happens. When people want to break away from what they've always been doing, of course they do things you don't expect.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! That was exactly what I was going for: sometimes, people we think we know well can be unexpected, especially if we've only ever really seen them in limited circumstances. So who knows what Isumi can occasionally get up to outside of Go?

I am not at all against the idea of Isumi/Nase doing non-Go things together. :D

I have to echo the previous comments! I wasn't sure how I was feeling while reading it, but by the end, I think you gave Isumi a dimension that many probably wouldn't think to associate him with--if that made sense.

But yea, when I think about his personality, I can kind of see this! Overall, I liked this a lot!

Dimension - that's a good word for what I was trying to do, I think. Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it overall!

I really loved this, actually. Isumi is trying to find himself, and sometimes people do things that are out of character when they feel lost like this. It's not out of the realm of possibility that this could happen. I also love Waya's reaction to it, it was very in character for him. Nice!

I'm glad you find this a believable story - and that Waya was in character! To be honest, Waya was probably the part I worried about most with regards to this story. So thank you for your comment!

Belated reply!! I forgot to track this entry so I'm sorry I missed your comment.

It means a lot to hear that this story touched you, although I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. I have a tendency to ship Isumi/Waya too, and basically friendships in general, but at heart, it's really the connection that matters, isn't it? I'm so glad you thought I conveyed that well. ♥ Thank you!
