I really love fics that deal with Hikaru and his mom. This is lovely, seeing Hikaru open up just a touch to his mom and to see her accept it. The manga always has her so clueless about it all, but no matter what, she supports Hikaru in all he does.

One of the things I love most about blind_go is the effort authors make to write outside of their normal box, and how they use some of the minor characters to do so. This Mitsuko is a little more "with it" than I'm used to seeing, but it doesn't come off as being forced. I enjoyed this a lot.

It's always nice to see fics that focus on the one-liner characters, and this is a nice vignette.

This makes me a little sad- this shows a closeness that Hikaru COULD have with his mother and just DOESN'T, most of the time. I do love seeing Mitsuko, though, she's so underused in fic. And I love how she supports her baby, even if she doesn't understand.
