Though... excellent plot. Fantastic fucking twist. Oh god, it burns so good. :(
Chapter 3, looking back, is beautiful foreshadowing. In fact, the first three chapters were all foreshadowing, now that I think about it. *runs off to cry some more*
I never wanted that kiss to end. Thank you for drawing it out and making things in my chest clench tightly.
Especially this - I want to be the kind of person he deserved.
You get 1700 points for the Nietzsche reference and 45336600 points for the perfect ending. The moment between Jim and SpockPrime in the sickbay. I don't have the words.
The epilogue on New Vulcan - that was a much-needed mattress of pillows to cushion the painful shock. Oh my god, I need a hug. YOU need a hug. *hugs*
You don't need to reference my silly ideas on time travel (which are totally plagiarized), but thanks awfully just the same! ^_^ I read another essay today about how in the far future quantum-computing nanobots will likely inhabit all humans, giving us near-infinite computing
( ... )
Just knowing I touched one person makes all the hours I spent on this fic so much more than worth it:) (Screw my GPA! Haha...)
*internet hug* Sorry for making you hurt! Yeah, I know it's kinda brutal...I wanted to warn people so I wouldn't trigger a breakdown or piss people off, but I wanted it to be a shock at the same time. If it makes you feel better, I always think of it as a bittersweet ending...Jim loses Spock forever, but he doesn't lose himself, so in that way, he gets to keep Spock because knowing Spock made him who he is, if that makes any sense. I know it's sad, but any other ending just didn't feel right.
You are a great inspiration:) Thanks again for the help with the time travel! My science fiction skills are shoddy at best, so I might continue to hit you up for ridiculously convoluted explanations. That nanobot thing sounds like a great idea for a kink-meme prompt...
I would have commented sooner, but these LJ outages totally suck. What type of person has nothing better to do than launch DoS attacks all day? Their time would be better spent writing slash. ;)
Yes, please do stomp all over your GPA! I will totally encourage your delinquency. :P Hahaha!
This was a GOOD bad ending, you know? It's not going to traumatize people, but make them think and FEEL. More kudos for you. Life is not happy endings all the time. :)
I also checked out the Bright Eyes song you linked. It's so sad and so true. Makes me want to renew my subscription to AdBusters. (do they even exist anymore?) I need a healthy dose of reality sometimes, living in mass-consumerism will do that to you.
Hit me up anytime, I can't promise anything, but I will do my best, especially if it means kink-meme fulfillment. Scifi-nerd powers, away!
I don't know how I missed that this was finished. (I was waiting so I could read it all at once). Stupid DDOS attack. I enjoyed it very much. Your characterizations of Jim, Spock and Ambassador Spock were spot on. I think the ending worked perfectly with the story. If we live any length of time on this Earth, we all have to deal with the death of loved ones at some point. I really liked the way you tied it back to what Spock said about the Kobayashi Maru. I also liked that Spock Prime was the one who helped Jim come out of his drug-induced state.
