Dog Notes #1
"Dog" is a story that was meant to be only three parts. As the story progresses it'll become more apparent what was supposed to be covered in those parts (or I'll just tell you in one of these notes). Most of the main points in this story were planned from the beginning, it was just HOW to connect the points together that was the troubling part. Either way, this story is about 70% finished at this time, and somewhere around 6 chapters. And I haven't even reached the end of Part 1 yet (but Part 2 promises to be much shorter).
But to give you a better, more student-based idea: Dog is currently 53,821 words. That makes it the longest story I've ever written (second longest would be an Advent Children fic that, unsurprisingly, was an AU about Cloud and Kadaj getting chased by the mafia).
I won't be writing notes for every chapter; that would just be too tedious. As more chapters come out, I'll save people some time and put them in memories (I never remember to do that. Somebody should poke me to remind me...).
As always, any suggestions for improvement are heartily encouraged even if I end up not doing them. Ideas for flashback scenes, interludes for people that aren't the main three (Tsuna, Gokudera and Yamamoto) that you would like to see something more in depth about, or simply a scene you imagine in your head fitting into the big picture of this story somewhere - tell me. New ideas are always welcome.
Those who are here for the romance will be disappointed. 327 is slight, almost nonexistent. 27Kyo is never overt. And 8059 is all still UST, and will continue to be until the end.
However, as I'm fond of describing this fic in my head, this is more of a TYL fic than it is a romance one. Before anything else, I want to show how the characters live ten years after. Who do they trust, what do they do in their daily lives? What struggles do they face, what annoyances spring up? People change - what perspectives do they have now? What remains of the children and their optimism for life?
That said, I'm also borrowing a word from Ciceqi's vocabulary: angstfluff. Using cuteness to explore negative emotion.
(Now that I say that out loud, it sounds like something San-X would come up with.)
This is an angsty fic. This is a fluffy fic. There are things in between, but for the most part, as a writer I am attempting to rip your heart to shreds in this piece. I don't know if I'll succeed, but I hope you can see their future the way I do - as something bleak, with the only certainty being terrifying change.
