Huh, I just noticed this...
Out of my top five RPGs, four of them are in nonstandard modern/cyberpunk/sci-fi settings. The fifth is Final Fantasy IX.
A) Can you guess what the other four are? (Hint: one of the other four is also a Final Fantasy)
B) This says things about what I like out of RPGs in terms of setting and tropes. I think.

Goddamn I love Evangelion. After you finish the series (including End of Eva, obvs), be sure to watch the recent Rebuild movies. They are super fascinating, and also gorgeous.

:D It's nice to see that some of my flist knows Eva! I'm almost at the end of the series, and I'll be done with that+EoE by the end of the week. :3 Rebuild looks like it'll be fun to watch, especially when I get to spot the differences between it and the original.

As for Eva....>< I have...issues with that series as a whole. It's a lot of very weird psychology things. There's a great review on it from a girl named JO, who really went into what put it together and what's so amazingly horrible about it.
If by chance you like that one, might I recomend Raxaphone, just as strange, but there's a least more of a semblence to a plot. Characters are a bit more developed over a period of time and, the pilot while he may whine it's not about the fighting he has to do it's about the fact that he doesn't understand what's happening to him. Animation is really good, the score is good, and there are moments that hit at some very interesting concepts. Well at least they were to me.

I, uh... I know that series gets recommended to Eva fans, but it's really not the same thing. I don't want to go into too much detail, but a big reason for me sticking with this show through all 26 episodes was the fact that I could directly empathize with Shinji, and the fact that the show was generally a terrifying clusterfuck.

Have you by chance watched Gilgamesh? Blew my mind.
