As anyone who has read Western Skies has noticed, music is a very big point of inspiration for me. :) This is going to be the sappiest fanmix ever. Sorry, cool hip people, this collection consists of music that ranges back over 40 years, with really nothing after 2005. No shiny tunes here. :P
Because I have both Jim and Chris able to sing in the story [directly inspired by Bruce Greenwood's own musical side] (Chris is also able to play guitar, and John is pretty good with a bass, although he's more backup singer material) in the story, I've mentally given them "singing voices." I've pretty bluntly stated Jim's in the story. So in short:
Jim = John Denver (smooth and sweet, with a good range, can be raspy as needed :P)
Chris = Elton John (all around awesome, able to sing both smoother tones and gravelly ones)
Feel free to die of laughter. I know I'm weird. :P
I suppose the weird point of this mix is that it consists both of the songs that directly inspired me for the series, and some of the songs "performed" in the fic itself. Hey, it's more music. That's always good. :D
Note: The only songs I ripped myself for this collection are the two exclusively Elton John ones. Those two are 320kbps. The others vary in quality, but are all pretty good. :)

Theme Songs for the Entire Fic:
Johnny Cash & U2 - Wanderer
If you've never heard this song before, listen to it. It's pretty self-evident why it's here (although feel free to not focus on the religious themes. I'm not focusing on them either.) This is the song that got me writing.
Elton John - American Triangle
Written as a tribute to Matthew Shepard, this song has some amazing imagery and ideas that I've definitely thought about WS, on discrimination and history.
Jim's Theme:
John Denver - The Eagle and the Hawk
This is Jim in the story. 'nuff said. I tend to think of the song as a progression. :)
Chris's Theme:
Queen & Elton John - The Show Must Go On
This is actually the song I imagine for post!Narada Pike in general, not just for this fic. This is the performance from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, and it has an incredible undercurrent of emotion that just makes me shiver. Listen to him at the 2:04 mark.
The song Jim would totally sing to Bones if he was plastered or lost a bet:
John Denver - Annie's Song
It's utterly and completely sappy, but has a lot of nature imagery that would totally be this Jim's thing. It would have to be one hell of a bet, though. Jim's got a rep to maintain, you know. ^_~
Chris and Jim's Theme:
Rascal Flatts - Life is a Highway
The newest song on here, and completely fitting from Jim's POV Post-"Road-trip". I think of it as the apology song. XD The song is open enough with its terms that I can listen to it with a familial love bent instead of romantic. :P
Chris and Jim's Anti-Theme:
Harry Chaplin - Cats in the Cradle
It's pretty self-explanatory.
The song I totally imagine for Chris and John:
Elton John - Someday Out of the Blue
Someday out of the blue
Maybe years from now
Or tomorrow night
I'll turn and I'll see you
As if we always knew
Someday we would live again, someday soon
No words needed. :)

As Seen in the Story:
B.B. King - How Blue Can You Get?
John Denver - Rocky Mountain High
I've seen it raining fire in the sky
This song makes me think nu!Kirk in general, honestly.
ZZ Top - La Grange
Roy Orbison - (all i can do is) Dream You
ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man
Roy Orbison - Dream Baby
ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin'
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & John Denver - And So It Goes
This is the song Jim sings to Carol in the story. :)
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & Friends - Will the Circle Be Unbroken
...ever since I thought that Roy Acuff sounded a lot like Leonard Nimoy in this (second solo,) this turned into a tribute song to Amanda. Hey, you never know, maybe she liked Bluegrass music.
EDIT 01.28.10 - I wanted to add the song mentioned about halfway through part 5. As I don't want to reupload the big file, you'll need to download this file separately by clicking on the name.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band & Emmylou Harris - Mary Danced With Soldiers ...depending on the fic, this can practically be Winona's theme song, or not. In this case...I'll let you decide.
