Some of the background stock includes images of Mann Gulch, such as an aerial view of the fire and photographs of the smokejumpers who died there; a lot of smoke and some smokejumper-related paraphernalia (planes, parachutes, photographs of smokejumper patrols and forest fires) build up the rest of the background texture. The title is from Ben Folds Five's "Smoke" and "Step into this fire I set" is quoted from James Keelaghan's "Cold Missouri Waters."
