It is just scare mongering and I don't endorse racism. The only reason it concerns me is the apparently long term and notable success of the insane portion of the Muslim population to hijack a good share of the moderate population. That's not a trend I enjoy, but it's not like the American Muslims have staged a revolution or done anything I could/would complain about. I also don't think a little diversity is a bad thing at all.
well, some muslim countries are better than others. i think the fundamentalism is more related to economic and social conditions, not so much which religion is prevalent.
Oh dear. I had to stop watching. The ominous voice and obvious racist scare-mongering was hurting my brain.
I was just thinking of you earlier! There is some rather heated religious debate going on over on Matazone, and I somehow ended up defending Christians and other theists. o_O
You know, I *almost* didn't catch the bias, but in the end I was able to figure it out. That college education is sure paying off. ;)
It was partly due to your powers of awesomeness, clearly, and also partly due to the other person being completely intolerant of views that are not her own (ie: the kind of atheist who really makes other atheists look horrible).
i think what i disliked the most about that video was that it doesn't take into account assimilation, the experiences of first generation immigrants, and it assumes that Muslims are this monolithic group that are defined by the extremists.
yea, i had to stop watching that video about halfway through - the xenopphobia, racism, and scare tactics weren't really as subtle as i thought they would be :o/
Assimilation tends to take time from what I understand, but yes. I know that in the US large Muslim communities have prospered without violence, bombings, doom, etc. The prospect of the fundamentalists getting power worries me, but I'm not trying to bitch about the average Muslim or wish them anything but the best.
