I've got a giant stone axe head that my great-great aunt (a German immigrant) picked up during the Oklahoma land rush. I suppose I could chuck it through the windshield of a big ass SUV, thus bringing these two holidays together.
It is indeed. We have a veritable collection going, because we find stuff in our backyard from time to time from the Osage and Illini...sometimes Mississippian--love the Mound Builders. The last thing we found--a nice long knife--just rolled out of a hillside after a heavy rain.
OOH! Very cool!! Wow, that's really awesome. Meh. The only things I ever kicked up at our place was the odd rusted piece of farm equipment from the 20's or so. Or maybe an arrow head here and there. Do you live near some of the mounds??? That's fun. I was literally just telling a co-worker about the Mound Builders and Spiro yesterday, heh.
Even though the whole idea behind OK day is wrong I was laughing at the end of this post...To me that's like Thanksgiving-Oh let's lie and say we loved the Native Americans and were friends when in reality we gave them blankets infected with small pox...
See, I would be more okay with OK day if it were more respectable. Granted, we have lots of other days to celebrate the Native non-Native peoples, but it's like, if you're going to call it "Oklahoma Day", which is pretty specific and should be wholly inclusive, why don't we celebrate it's first origins. I need to see who's idea this was and who put it into existence. Probably some white senator.

"Swing looowww, sweet chaaarrriiootttt. Comin' for to carry me hooommmeee" is what the SUV driver should be singing.

However.
I might be persuaded to be coaxed into a sexy eye/face mask ala Michelle Pheiffer's Catwoman. *purrrrscratch*
