So, a week ago or so I learn IPv6 will no longer support fragmentation. Is it just me, or is that going to break basically most UDP programs, and make them a pain to fix? Am I missing something?
Yeah, UDP doesn't fragment, but that's because it relied on the ability for IP packets to fragment. Without IP fragmentation, the size of your UDP packets becomes severely limited, no?
Thanks for the info. Fragmenting "handled differently and in the next header part" is quite different than "not supported". I suppose I should just read the spec instead of these summary articles.
