Stitching! Zombies! Anger!

Yaay! My Inception cross stitch is coming on in leaps and bounds, as is only fitting. I need to take it out of the hoop to get pictures now, which is encouraging. You can see a bit of Arthur's head now, and his gun, and I was very excited to realise I've already reached out to the left hand edge. I need to go order some more of the darkest blue ( Read more... )

Wow!

I'm not familiar with how x-stitch works...I always assumed the pattern was drawn on the fabric beforehand but it doesn't look like that's how you're doing it?

You can get some pre-packaged kits like that, but they're mostly for beginners I think. I've got a program that helps me design the pattern so I end up with pages and pages of little symbols telling me what colour thread to put where and then I just have to do lots of counting to work out where everything goes! This fabric helps as it has the guide lines for every 10x10 square of stitches (and I also have them marked on the pattern)which wash out when it's finished. But basically cross stitch is just a whole bunch of counting... "three stitches of navy blue here, move down two rows, nine stitches there, skip eight stitches, stitch three stitches" etc etc etc until it's either finished or I make a mistake and have to unstitch loads and have a temper tantrum! Although it's actually more fun than I'm making it sound.
