The Geekiest Lamp in All of Geekdom

So, today's crafty post. I had this floor lamp that I loved very much, but some of the panels had been damaged over the years, so I decided to cut all the panels out, replace the ones that were too badly ripped and salvage the ones that weren't. Maybe I'd add some small embellishments, I thought. Then it turned into an epic stencil project that ( Read more... )

OMG, that lamp is blowing my mind! That is so awesome. I would totally buy something like that, though I don't know how difficult shipping would be.

So did you hand draw all the stencils from scratch or did you work from some sort of template? If you make them yourself, do you ever sell custom made stencils for those of us unable to draw realistic art like this? Fandomy stencils would be so awesome to have. I'd stencil everything in sight! ;)

Aww, thank you! I have the idea that somewhere there exists some sort of table lamp that's flat-packable which'd make shipping easier, but the only one I've found so far is so tiny that it limits what designs I could put on it. I'm going to keep hunting though - there seem to be a lot of lighting wholesalers in the world!

The stencils are a bit of both really. For example the scythe is just a print out of my photoshop fiddling about, and the Enterprise blueprints are essentially just traced, but the Kane mansion gates were done freehand from staring at a freeze frame. This whole lamp's a mishmash of techniques! I'd never thought about making and selling stencils themselves - I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the idea!

Firstly, thank you, and secondly, thank you! I need to get myself over there and see what I can do to help out too.
