Gerard disappears for three days and when he comes back he's different. Mom doesn't seem to notice it, but Mikey can see it. Can feel it. It's like a layer of him was peeled away to reveal what is underneath ( ... )

They're in Chicago. Most of the band is drunk out of their minds, Frank is chatting up a pretty dark haired girl and Adam is... Mikey doesn't know and he doesn't want to know. He is pretty sure Adam found some guy to suck his dick. He takes a sip of someone's beer and pulls his pack out while he makes for the back-door.
The alley is blessedly silent and empty. He lights one and inhales deeply.
He more feels than hears the movement and when he opens his eyes a guy is leaning against the opposite wall. He smiles - it reminds him of Gerard's smile -and Mikey smiles back.
A fierce voice in his head whispers mineMikey doesn't remember the guy's name the next day, but it doesn't matter, because they're on the road again ( ... )
