The three purimgifts treat-a-thon fics, courtesy of all_my_fandoms and roga. Written for valeriev84, who asked for Numb3rs, nothing adult. Ratings are in the mild zone, fics are a mix of gen or canon het, and word counts are all exactly 1000. Thanks to kassie_opia for the awesome betas ( Read more... )

Thank you! I'm glad you like it, and it's a pleasure to hear such kind words. ♥ I have a lovely time writing it, even though I know the show's canon only vaguely. Made me want to see more! *g*

What a fantastic collection of fic!

The first two were fun, particularly Larry and Charlie arguing about the food, very them!

And the last one was just really sweet.

Thank you!

Hee! My, such praise. ♥ Thank you, for commenting and being so nice! This fandom has got to be one of the most laid-back and awesome I've been in. :D Glad you like the ficlets, and thanks for the kind words!

Larry and Charlie can argue about Jewish foods at me any day, lol. *adores them*

Thanks so much for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the fic; it was great fun to write. :D And if you're curious about any of the Jewish references, please, ask away! I love talking about Judaism and my writing, respectively, so talking about both would be like two great tastes which taste great together. XD

Well, Wikipedia is your friend here: they have an excellent article about Purim. I get why most people wouldn't go and peruse obscure encyclopaedia articles about quasi-religious historical myths in their spare time, though. *g* I, too, have better things to do. So instead I'll try to summarize it here a bit:

Purim is a celebration of the Jewish people for an event which happened in the sixth century BC, in the great city of Shoshan, the capital of the Persian empire. Lots of Jews had been exiled from Biblical Canaan and scattered throughout the surrounding countries during 586 BC, in what we call the Babylonian Exile, so basically there were a shitload of Jews in Shoshan, the Persian capital, which was a city also captured by the Babylonians. Anyway, Jews were in Shoshan, then ruled by this king called Ahasueros, who was an okay king but also had an evil vizier named Haman. Haman tried to kill all the Jews in Shoshan, but two plucky Jews, a beautiful girl named Esther and her old uncle Mordechai, managed to foil his plot and save ( ... )

Excellent collection of stories, I really enjoyed having the Eppes ethnicity emphasized like this.

I'm surprised that Charlie hasn't brought up the fact that today's latke are made from potatos, which are new world vegetables. That recipe can't possibly be from 900 B.C.

Loved the image of Alan and Charlie baking all day. Loved how Robin is trying to fit into Don's life. I think that girl's a keeper.

Two thumbs up! :-D

Thanks a lot, wow! This comment made me grin from ear to ear. :D I'm really glad you like the ficlets, especially since you picked up on all the parts which I enjoyed writing the most. Great minds think alike, &c. XD

LOL, oh, if I could only write their debate the way it went in my head! Too bad I had to keep it in a 1000-word limit. Oh, well. Perhaps next Purim, eh wot? ;D

Alan's relationship with his sons is the highlight of the show, for me, so I really loved writing the first bit. And Robin is one of the most intriguing female characters I've seen in a while (Megan and Amita notwithstanding, haha). It's such a well-written show, with such a great cast, how could you not love them? ♥

These are all so incredibly sweet and darling without being twee. Well done!

Thank you! I'm very glad you like them. Also, wow, your comment brings me such relief-the biggest danger in writing fluff is making it twee, or cavity-inducing, or dolled-up; I'm immensely happy I managed to avoid all those. Thank you for the kind words!
