LIttle Ships Go Out to Sea...

Dec 07, 2005 23:13

Okay, guys, I'm dreadfully curious, so indulge me please, all of you.

What was your first ship?  What couple (or almost couple) did you love first?

Me, I think it was probably Laura Ingalls and Almanzo Wilder, but right up there was also Jo March and Laurie or Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe.

But do tell...

oh man I used to love Anne of Green Gables because of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. I still thinks Balthazar Getty looks like him. My first ship? Oh man....probably Anne and Gilbert because I can't think of anyone else that I ever wanted to pair up before them.

I still love them so much. The Anne series is one of my touchstones for when I'm sad. Reading a few of those always brightens my day. And I loved the PBS (or was it CBC) version of the first few books with Megan Follows as Anne.

Han and Leia maybe, or Luke and Laura on GH.

In a book...gees...I don't remember right now.

I wanted Luke and Leia to get together before I realised they were siblings...it confused me so much when I was 5 or 6...

Yes, I thought of that when I said Han and Luke. I remember reading, "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" and being happy that they were together. That's icky to ponder now.

Oooh, Kevin and Winnie - that's a good one. I only got to see the show at friends' houses when I was a little kid. I just learned recently that they didn't end up together. *sniff* It was shattering! ;)

I loved it when I watched it - but my family was big on the no TV thing (except for football or hockey games) so I never watched it regularly. I was so happy to see the girl who played Winnie be on The West Wing a few years ago.

Hmm that's a hard one to say.
I can tell you fanfiction wise it was Angel(us)/Willow.

But just the first couple that I first loved? Not sure really. Probably Dorothy and the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz movie.

I'm a big fan of Giles/Willow myself though as you've heard me rave, I'm a newcomer to the Buffyverse.

Dorothy and the Scarecrow is awesome though. I don't think I ever connected them in my head as a kid, but it could so work.

I was a strange kid. My favourite character was the scarecrow and I always loved the earlier scenes before they meet up with the tin woodsman & the lion. When you read the books there's more of a friendship between them.

I loved the books so much. Ozma of Oz was always my favorite though so I'd read that one over and over until the binding broke. I should reread the original book though. It's been so long that I barely remember any of it.

being a male, and a heterosexual one at that, I don't really remember.

I will tell you that now, a letter between my favorite couple starts off like this:

My Dearest, Most Beloved Sophie,

You need a miniature to carry around with you.
