I am so fucking frustrated right now. So I bought an external DVD drive today (I/O magic external dvd drive, dont buy it!), one that was supposed to be able to "Watch all your favorite DVDs from your computer". Guess what? Doesn't work! It's all connected, I can see the DVD in My Computer (which sometimes doesn't respond now) and yet I can't get it

Does the new external DVD drive connect via USB? This sounds strange, but I have found that on some computers certain USB ports do not have drivers loaded for all possible external devices.

Something to try, would be to go to Control Panel >> Device Manager >> Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then right click on the USB port in question and select "update driver". If the driver is up to date then the system will just tell you so, but if it does update the driver, then restart and see if the computer will now recognize the external device.

Also, do any of the USB ports listen under Universal Serial Bus Controllers say "enhanced" or "enhanced 2.0" in their name?

Thanks for the advice! I tried it but it didn't work. I returned it and have a new one that works thankfully.
