Team Ashayam: speaking Vulcan in bed since 1966

Jan 07, 2010 22:45

IDK how it happened, but after being totally "nyeh?" on the idea of Ship Wars, I went and signed up for it. Spock/Uhura was being underrepresented! Totally not acceptable for a canon ship, let alone my canon OTP.

I have no idea what I've gotten myself into, but I figure I'll just watch taraljc captaining the Pike/Number One ship and try to emulate ( Read more... )

I'm giggling so much at that macro. Yay pointy-eared valedictorian children who speak 230940324 languages!

Good luck in the war!

Thanks! I don't expect it to be too war-like, but otherwise I have no idea what I'm doing. My goals are just to make friends and occasionally do something creative that's outside my comfort zone.

There's a surprisingly large and vocal Chekov/Sulu team, which I think is adorable.

(And that macro made me cry with laughter the first time I saw it!)

I love the macro, especially the 'geeks can still tap that'. Go Geeks!

I think Spock/Uhura was underrepresented because so many of the Spock/Uhura people have been so burned in the actual shipwars. Being told one's ship is homophobic, that one's female character is uppity and needs to be put in her place... I don't know. I really hope I'm wrong about this, but I don't expect the K/S folks to do anything but give the S/U stories bad votes.

I really, really hope you have a good time with this and that you don't end up unhappy with it. And I do love your macro. I'm just extremely leery of the whole Ship Wars project.

I hope I didn't sound like I was suggesting that anyone was slacking by not representing Spock/Uhura! I completely know why people would avoid this thing like the plague no matter how much they love S/U. I just felt like S/U needed support, and since my avoidance impulse was relatively mild, my take-responsibility gene kicked in. (It's how I got to be president of my condo board, too, whoops.) I feel like, I'm pretty zen about it--I'm not particularly competitive, and knowing that our little ship is vastly outnumbered pretty much removes any pressure to win. My goals are basically (a) get to know a few of my fellow fans better, and (b) hopefully have some pretty new S/U fanwork come out of it ( ... )

Oh, no, I didn't get the impression that you thought nonparticipants were slacking, not at all. And I LOVE those ONTD macros! I just have... reservationbs about shipwars. But enough negativity from me. *cheers you on*

Somehow I have managed to become a co-mod of this lovely comm which I am hoping will bully me into creating actual content for a change. I am wary of mentioning in the welcome post that I write and draw because time generally does not permit for me to do either and I don't want to feel as though I am overstating my abilities. But as it is a new year, maybe it's time for that to change.

I am glad to be on deck with you, lady. Vulcan pillow-talk is the greatest ever but does make me wonder, pervily, what dirty talk in Vulcan would be like. Let's face it; probably as hot as a thousand suns.

You draw? Like can you draw people, because I can draw inanimate objects til the cows come home but people defy me. Okay, maybe I can draw them a little since I had a class in school where I had to draw a few. Still. BTW the fact that you're co-mod is the thing that persuaded me to join! I hope we're both vindicated in our choice and not proved to be completely insane. :P

I've pimped it before so maybe it's not your cup of tea, or maybe you've already seen it, but I can't speak highly enough of diane_kepler and proudcockatrice's fic for sheer insanely hot Vulcan dirty talk. Totally in character too, which makes it even hotter. I wandered back into their story Zahvan T'Masu [A Taste of Water] yesterday looking for inspiration for the SP/G pon farr epic and got completely sucked in again. I LOVE this fic so much. I get pon farr from reading it, I think.

If you're not in the mood for Spock/original Romulan space pirate fic (though I don't know how you couldn't be, but some people have weird taste *g*) diane_kepler also wrote a Spock/Uhura pon farr fic called Eight ( ... )

Haha dude I am going to get around to Romulan space pirates eventually; I have not forgotten your recommendation and it totally sounds right up my alley. I am so busy these days I barely have time for the stack of unread books I have on my bedside table. :(

I hope my choice to be involved in the ship wars is not proven to be a bad one either. I just feel that fighting on the internet is fucking retarded so you know; that should colour my opinions on things. For me, it is about creating content!

And yes, I draw! I should show you. One of these days I may create something ST related. I have big dreams of drawing an Audrey Kawasaki-eque Spock with Vulcan flowers in his hair.
