drive-by accomplishment

Oct 03, 2010 12:12

To work on my tendency to procrastinate, I've added a rule to my October de-malingering project: Accomplish at least one noteworthy thing by 11 a.m. each day. It doesn't have to be big, just something that's been lying around for too long ( Read more... )

Aww, thanks! I was hooked on Buffy by "Fool for Love," so I 'shipped Buffy/Spike from pretty much the first minute. But there was something so hilarious about Days of Our Unlives and Eternal Nightcap that made me want to write in this AU where Spike and Angel are this hilarious bickering couple. Of course being me, I had to bring romance into it. It's the Jane Austen influence, truly.

(I regret that I never finished my Buffy/Spike story that was inspired by Persuasion. I don't even have drafts of it, which makes me sad because I'd love to see what I wrote like then, when I wasn't being ridiculous. Maybe it'll turn up yet!)

I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Wow, okay. I actually remember this story, and I used to read so much Buffy/Angel (um, in the fandoms, not the pairing, although I did read that too but anywho - I'm flustered, okay!) that I'm seriously sort of clutching at it and beaming and possibly squeaking. I KNEW that I *knew* your name from somewhere, and now I know! Squeak!

Wow, this is bringing back all sorts of memories from the UCSL and Nightblooms on Yahoo, and... *drifts* Thank you. I really enjoyed your story, and gah, 2002, how was it even that long ago? The boots, and Spike's tongue-in-cheek insolence, and the white chocolate LUBE, L.O.L. And, aww, the romance. Bookmarking!!

Hee! I'm so glad I could stir up those fun memories for you. Buffy was my first fandom, so it has all kinds of great associations for me--even a lot of the friends I have on this journal are people I knew from other sites back when the shows were still on. I had so much fun writing this one story--and then I didn't have a fandom I loved enough to write for again until Star Trek.

Oh god, Nightblooms! Yahoo groups! *has flashbacks* How is it that 2002 is both not that long ago, and somehow a completely different technological age? All those stories in email digest form, how did we function? I hope more people dig up their work from those days and put it on AO3--it would be so fun to be able to look back on it now!
