I don't think all their Jesus characters are deliberately modeled on Jesus himself, and I'm not sure if this one was (although he's still definitely A Jesus Character). More than a few, though, definitely are, and it's hilarious. Persona 3 being one of my favorite examples.

There's a trend in some areas to play around with the heaven/hell concept - though it's mostly been something other people have noted and I wish to read their thoughts more.

It's probably better to marathon than to watch over a long period of time anyway... the timejumping back and forth is confusing at first, but it begins to make sense after a while.
