Quote from a source which does not need to be named, because it was a random MU* discussion and who gives a fuck:

Modern Feminism isn't about equal rights, it's about subjugating men. It's a yoyo affect [sic] that happens whenever an oppressed group is empowered.

No. This "yo-yo effect" is imaginary, caused by taking the known fact that ( Read more... )

I think it is indeed a painful generalization, but that doesn't stop it from being true in some cases. I know plenty of women who hate all men purely on the basis they are men, (unless they're gay men because then they're not insensitive rapist assholes), and plenty of black people who'll beat up any white person they meet sheerly on the basis of "your ancestors owned mine!", and lots of other horridly irritating generalizations.

So yeah, I think the "cycle of abuse" has a tremendous amount of truth behind it on an individual/small group basis, but not on a "society as a whole" level. (Like whoever would think that a woman is beating their child because they're a woman and that's what they do... though, of course, how many times in my life have I heard "of course he hit you, honey. He's a man, men do bullshit like that". Ugh. What a no-win situation.

I agree!

Also no one should use the cycle of abuse until they know what the fuck they're talking about. In fact, stop using domestic abuse in these conversations at all. It's offending me deeply.
