So, today lilairen acquired the third season of Avatar and...watched rather a lot of it. In a panic that she would surpass me, I watched the next two episodes I hadn't seen

Actually, we got it a few days ago, but had a Romantic Evening At Home.

Which, er, involved eating cheese and snuggling on the couch watching Avatar. ;)

Oddly enough, although I did see shipping potential between Katara and Zuko in the first season when they were straight up enemies, I find zero chemistry between them in season three when they're actually allies. I am not sure why that is. It may just be that by season three I had largely lost interest in Katara in general, although, again, I really couldn't say why.

Possibly because Aang/Katara was even more obvious by that point? I tend to find I have trouble shipping alternate pairings by the time their canon is that clear.

I agreed with you entirely when I first read this comment; then I watched the finale, and I think their chemistry improves notably there.

I actually wasn't too happy with TSR, I thought the episode was rushed and there were some problems with Katara's characterization where she didn't own up to her actions like she usually would.

But skdjfhks I love Ember Island Players. <3 Everything about it. AAAHHH I can't wait until you watch the finale. Suki is so awesome in it, vojne vojne.

I thought that with some tweaking they could have easily gotten two episodes out of TSR and done a better job of exploring Katara's issues and how she forgave Zuko etc etc, but...they were running out of space for episodes at that point. Alas.
