"It's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God."
--Mike Huckabee, explaining his desire for constitutional amendments to outlaw abortion and same-sex marriage

Dude, you're a Republican presidential frontrunner, not some kook advertising for Focus on the Family! STOP THAT.

offensive shit, politics

I think that he's working on the assumption that it's the same thing.

He forgets that a part of the population doesn't follow/believe in the god he's talking about. Not everybody shares your beliefs, Huckabee, so shove it.

I really hope you guys across the pond can get a less bigoted moron in office for the next term.

No, he knows full well the rest of us exist. That's what, to his constituents, makes his message so urgent: we must be stopped.
He knows not everyone shares those beliefs. It's just that the "not everyone" are wrong. And possibly agents of infernal powers, or unwitting victims of demonic possession.

That makes him an even bigger bastard. It's like a soccer hooligan that they dressed up and taught some fancier words.

I just wonder why you guys got so many crazies over there, it's sad. And those people are the reason I'm glad I'm not an American citizen.

(Sheesh, so much for freedom of religion, huh? :( )

My theory is that we're a nation founded by religious nutcases who were kicked out of everywhere else because they were bonkers. Thereby, England purified its population of the 'religious nutcase with oppressive tendencies' gene/memespace.

He should re-read that bit about David and Jonathan kissing...

*snort* Clearly, like so many evangelicals, he has no knowledge or at least is unwilling to admit how the Christian bible came into existence as it is. It's been changed, and a lot. Heck, the only reason there's only 'four' gospels is some muckety muck said, well, there's four cardinal directions, there should be four gospels! Uh-huh. Lo, the brilliance of biblical editing. And heck, I consider myself a Christian even, although I doubt Huckabee and his ilk would agree. ;)

Then again, as I read once, I don't trust anyone who pronounces God with W. ;)
