It does depend on the prank. As long as it's harmless, it's good! They won't harm anyone and the prankster, as well as the people being pranked on, can still get a good laugh.

I personally hate April Fool's Day. I am a fool year round so I don't need a specific day. LOL

Anyway, people totally misinterpret what it is. They use distasteful and immature jokes that aren't funny. Like you said, they say things like my mother died and other crap.

I know a guy that called up a girl and told her that her boyfriend was in a car crash and was seriously injured. She was so hysterical. It turned out it was an April fools joke.

That guy got a serious beating.

I really hate this day.
