It really is. And all the touching--I looked up the script, and you know, none of that touching was in there. Nor were most of Garak's expressions. Andrew Robinson totally makes the pairing.

And oh man I love how all the times when Garak seems most pleased with Bashir are when he sees Bashir do something ruthless or devious *_* It's like a twisted mentorship I love it so much aaaa *_* WATCH MORE.

I have to agree that Garak is at the very least, bisexual. In any case, his hots for Bashir are undeniable. I don't think the Trek directors or writers or anyone ever intended for it. I think it's all a creation of those two, Andrew Robinson in particular. My guess would be that it was written as a twisted mentorship, but Andrew Robinson took it one step further and Alexander Siddig played along.

Man, I have to see if I can find my autograph to show you. I'm pretty sure it's from this episode. Now that I recall, I think I got Andrew Robinson to sign my name (foolishly, and in nervousnes) but still! It's not as if I'm going to sell it.

...and I just realized I have no Trek icons. This must be remedied!

Yeah, that's how I feel. The Trek writers didn't mean it that way at all (although given some of the stuff they wrote, it's hilarious that they were so oblivious), but Andrew Robinson looked at the scripts and went, "I'm going to play this character as gay as possible." I don't know how Alexander Siddig reacted, but in any case, it came out really entertaining in a twisted way. I love that sort of dark sense of mentorship in a relationship, and all the gay subtext just makes it even better.

I need more Trek icons myself! And on top of that I still need B5 icons, augh.

I vaguely remember a TV guide interview with Robinson way back when the show was still running, in which he said he figured Garak's only real sexual preference was 'willing', or something along those lines.

I can believe that. And he sure does seem to enjoy acting gay.

I haven't seen the show, but the screen caps alone convince me.
