I'm getting kind of tired of all the bashing of the FMA anime that goes on. And for once I'm not talking about people on the MU*s but rather people scattered about LJ ( Read more... )

The manga's definitely my favorite between the two, but I really enjoyed the anime. There were a few episodes that I really disliked (wtf was up with the episode that centered around Lust, in the midst of an incredibly more important storyline? It was great that they made her a little more 3-D, but come on-- there wasn't a better place to do it?) but overall, I loved it. The Nina-arc always comes to mind when I think of the anime, and I think they did that really beautifully.

The Lust episode was definitely a mistake. Which is to say--I'm not saying that the anime didn't make mistakes, just that people ought to take into account the circumstances before they start ranting about how Bones destroyed a perfect manga.

The Lust episode was sort of there to trump up Lust as something other than a heartless monster, to give a face to the Homunculus and to generally set the scene for what would eventually be her 'betrayal' of master, through her past and the actions surrounding Scar's death.

A pity they ruined the setup by having her die to the marysue of the series. :`( Really, Lust was one of the saving graces of the anime, away from the military side. A true pity the way her story ended. And surely you enjoyed watching her heaving bosom animated!

Ah, the glory of the heaving bosom! I really did enjoy the way they fleshed up her character, gave her a history and reasons other than 'sheez hot an has fingernales YAY.' I just thought the placement could have been better - they dropped that episode in right in the middle of the rising climax of the series. Just a moment of 'wtf' as I watched.

oooh. I've never seen FMA. But it's theme song is my favorite Asian kung-fu gen song (Rewrite! Hell yeah!) Is there anywhere you can find it online? I won't know the difference since I haven't read the manga... *is a heathen*

hope you are well

My secret online stash of it is here. I adore the series despite its flaws and would very much recommend it.

Honestly I like the anime over the manga. While each has their own charm and faults--the anime moreso--I still liked the characterization in the anime more. Which is weird, since I usually prefer the source over the anime. BUT--it was a good show. A very good show. :( I miss it. T_T

I think it depends a lot on what you were looking for. I admit to getting into a "zomg Bones you didn't include this this and this from the manga you hors :( :( :(" rut sometimes, but...I still honestly like the manga better. Which is biased because really, I think the manga did a better job focusing on the later developments of the military people. (Such as my pet minor character. See? Bias right there.) And -- really, they did make some mistakes. Trelali up there had a good point with the Lust episode. I also point to the whole military sideplot where they simply...never filled in what happened to Havoc and Armstrong and co. during their half of the coup. Shoddy storywork towards the end. :/ (I swear I'm going to write a fic that fills in that little gap. Sometime ( ... )

Nah, not you. If you like the manga over the anime, that's one thing; it's just the people who froth and rave over the EVIL that is the anime blah blah blah who make me roll my eyes.
