She looked beautiful. Then again, she always did, but being apart from one another, forcibly rather than voluntary, made everything a little sharper, more potent than it had been before or would be on a normal basis.
Smiling slightly, Remus shook his head to her question. "No, I thought you might want to choose something, since I know how much you like Chinese," he answered, trying to discern what this talk might be about from her bearing, but other than the what had become the normal tenseness in her frame, he couldn't find anything to go off of. "I've missed you too." He had. He'd thought about her a great deal, both in the positive and negative, but not having her there had made him miss her because he couldn't see her when he wanted to, couldn't be near her, couldn't tell her anything.
Nodding, "Of course," Remus called the waiter over, letting his wife order whatever she liked. He wasn't sure what "this awfulness" referred to-- he wasn't sure he wanted to know-- but he was trying not to judge this meeting before she'd really said anything.
Whatever they talked about tonight, Remus hoped, on some level, it wasn't going to be anything too awful. He wasn't sure how much more strain their relationship could take, even with his sense of duty demanding he behave well no matter what to honor her sacrifices.
